Walking down the street in Terminus, I saw a lady sitting on a platform with a medicine man squatting in front of her. What caught my attention was that he was using his hands round her head three times and her mouth was moving probably, making some chants ( as instructed by him most probably). I was shocked to say the least. I kept turning to see them and they kept conversing till I couldn't see them again.
I kept asking myself what could have gone wrong for this lady to be patronising a medicine man.
Then, I remembered the story of the Israelites in 1Samuel when they rejected God and asked for a King.
To God, Israel rejected His Kingship when they approached Samuel with that request. They did so unknowingly, actually.
So, I ask myself: how many times do I allow anxiety seek for a physical representation of my faith in God? How many times do I press God to show me a physical sign of His presence and promise?
Pressing in for a sign from God might seem the spiritual thing to do. But, is it? Especially in the context of all I've said. Is it?
