IELTS General Writing Task - 1 Semi-formal Letters

Listen Later

In semi-formal letter writing you should know whom you are writing to and the overall formality of the letter. The task can be addressed to your manager, landlord and acquaintances. Therefore, you should use a semi-formal style as you are writing to a person you know, but not very well.
They are more polite than an informal letter and are written in a neutral style, not too formal nor too informal.
Also it is very important that you do not omit the opening and closing statements. Remember, they are a must!!!
How you are opening your IELTS Semi-formal letter depends on the reason for the letter. It is best to open the letter with a short explanation for the purpose of the letter and end it with a request for a related action that relates to it. Try to paraphrase the exam question and do not just copy sentences or words from it directly.
You should not use abbreviated or contracted forms and use proper punctuations as well. ✅Kindly subscribe and follow my podcast for more information. 💲If you appreciate my work you can now support me directly at https://anchor.fm/beatielts
