Throughout the Bible we often see the idea of "thirst" being used as an image of an intense desire. Jesus himself often uses this same description to highlight the deep spiritual longings and desires that we all have. If we're honest, all of us must admit that we long for lasting joy and satisfaction and fulfillment, and that it is this same desire that motivates all of our actions... Inescapably, we long for the spiritual thirst in our souls to be satisfied!

Remarkably, in John 7:37-39, Jesus tells us where we must go to satisfy this unquenchable thirst. These verses are a short recounting of an evangelistic sermon given by the greatest of all preachers, the Lord Jesus himself. In fact, so wonderful was this sermon by Jesus, that the officers who were sent by the Pharisees to arrest him came back empty-handed and simply said that, "No one ever spoke like this man."
