If you asked most people what envy is, they’d give you a one word definition: jealousy. But how can that be right if God describes Himself as a “jealous God,” and even says His name is “Jealous,” while at the same time declaring that envy is one of the things He hates the most? The answer is that those words are not the same, as I try to articulate here. As always, the Bible gives us a better way to understand and define our terms.
