John had a lot of experience and Christ followers need to KNOW a few things. The world that John lived in was as chaotic, confused, and un-Godly as our world is today. In I John 5:19, he writes that we KNOW we are of God. Christians are God’s children. The world is of Satan. Being OF GOD tells us that we are distinct from the world. We are placed here and now by God to complete His purposes for His glory. Christians can also KNOW that we have eternal life (I John 5:13). We are not saved by our good works. The confidence of our salvation is not based upon ourselves, our works, or our obedience. The confidence of our salvation is based upon the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. If I KNOW where I am from and I KNOW where I am going, I have a road map for my life. “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1). We are going to be with Jesus for eternity. This is God’s plan. Now you KNOW.
