I grew up with Baptist and Pentecostal backgrounds. Back then, after I "got saved" I can remember the Saints telling me that I was suppose to be different because I was now saved. After a while, though they vocalize differently, the message seemed to be that my actions were actively determining my salvation. It would be later in life, after reading and studying on my own, I would learn that salvation is a gift and it's freely given to those who accept it. Your life and actions are not a payoff on a down payment for sin's payment made by Jesus. Did Jesus really pay it all? Why isn't the church's message of "being saved" not in line with the story of Jesus's payment? #whenwethink9 #whenwethink
