Homily for Holy Thursday, March 29, 2018 by Deacon Dan Brahier. In this homily, Deacon Dan unpacks the theme of Holy Thursday's Gospel and explains it can be summarized through the phrase, "If only I had known" (1:50). This is evidenced by Jesus saying, "What I am doing now, you do not understand, but later you will". Deacon Dan then explores the confusion the apostles felt when Jesus knelt down to wash their feet, and explains that Jesus is trying to show them an act of humility and service (2:52). He discusses how washing of the feet is a sacramental and is a reminder that God wants us to love one another as He loves us. Finally, he unpacks the Easter Triduum for us and gives us a brief overview and understanding of what it entails and what it means for our faith (4:08).
