Marriage is God's plan for mankind.  In the Genesis document God created the Adam and his wife to be one flesh.  The one flesh union means that those who were once two become one, that is, a compound unity.  This powerful union that God created must not be dissolved by any type of human intervention.  Marriage is unique to humankind; no other relationship has this blessing from God.  Do not give up on your marriage.  Do the hard word of making it work and you will be blessed.
