Minister Aaron Hill continues his series on the Gospel of John by looking at chapter 14 in which Jesus comforts His disciples. He is preparing them for what is to come as He nears His imminent death on the cross. The text reminds us that we don’t love Jesus if we don’t do what He says, and John 14:15, He tells His disciples this. “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” He goes on the tell them that He will ask the Father, and He will give them another Counselor (John 14:16). As Jesus prepares to go to the cross, He wants His disciples to be assured that He is not leaving them alone. It is here that Jesus introduces the disciples to the Holy Spirit that God will send on Pentecost, a Spirit that will dwell in all who come to know Jesus and place their faith in Him.
