Psalm 91:1a: Dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High
The entire chapter depends on verse 1:
Jesus knew we couldn’t get to Him, and that’s why came to us, and we must continue to dwell (settle down, constantly return, rest, remain) in Him
Psalm 51:11: A common misconception Do we have to worry about Him leaving us? No! David was not born again, so he did not have the Holy Spirit within him! We have a better covenant, established on better promises! (Hebrews 8:6)1 Corinthians 6:18-20 We are each a temple of the Holy Spirit: we don’t have to ask Him to never leave us, because He lives within us! And He’s not planning on moving out! Hebrews 13:5 We already have His promise to never leave us! However, there is more than just having Him within us. No, He will never leave us, but most Christians will never see the power of God at work in their lives to the extent that God wants because they don’t dwell in Him. Matthew 28:19-20 The “Lo” is with those who “Go.” The fulness of His power, His grace, His peace, and His presence are with us when we go where He wants us to go. Follow His leading; follow His direction. He will direct you, and when He does, you follow. Go!Acts 11:19-21 We see that all scattered, and all preached, but only some preached to those to whom Jesus told them to preach. They preached to EVERYONE! And the hand of the Lord was with them, and they saw tremendous results! They obeyed Jesus’ command to go into ALL the WORLD and preach the gospel! The “Lo” is with those who “Go.” Mark 16:20 God will confirm His WordIn Position2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.We have a position of righteousness in Christ. That is who we are, and we become righteous by being in Him. You ought to know that you are the righteousness of God in Christ! If you know that, then you will know that God is on your side, and you’re on His, and nothing can stand against you! The beginning to knowing your authority is knowing your righteousness!In RelationshipI am not bound by law, but by relationship.Romans 8:14 children of God ought to be led and directed in every area of their lives. But why aren’t they? Because they are children simply by position, not by relationship. John 15:9-17 If we love Him, we will do what He tells us. (Vs. 10)A lot of people want verse 15 without verse 14. We cannot be friends of God and walk in disobedience to Him. Do we slip? Yes! That’s why 1 John 1:9 was written! But we want to know exactly what God is doing without doing what He says to do. Secret Place: The word for “Secret Place” means “A covering, a hiding place, shelter, and protection.” i.e., cows using windbreaks to stay out of the wind, or us staying in the house to keep warm and safe from the cold1 Samuel 19:2 David hides from Saul and is safe, because he dwelt in a secret placeThe secret place is a place of intimacy and safety, and is closely related to another word that means “To keep close, to hide carefully.”David knew what it meant to dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High. He practiced it! Psalm 27:4-5 The words “Dwell” (vs. 4) and “Secret place” (vs. 5) are the same words used in Psalm 91:1! Of the Most High: God is the Most High God!He is over every other thing!Ephesians 1:17-23 God raised Jesus up and seated Him above every name! Jesus is above every name! There is nothing above Him, nothing greater than Him, nothing stronger than Him, nothing more powerful than Him! He is FAR above! Ephesians 2:4-6 God not only raised Him up, but He also raised US up together with Him! Our position is where He is: FAR ABOVE every name! Cancer, homework, death, depression, inflation, etc. Your future is bright because you are seated with Christ far above!
Shall abide: This means to lodge until night is passed; to rest; Webster dictionary: “To continue permanently or in the same state; to be firm and immovable.” Psalm 119:90 God made the earth, and it will abide, remain, be firm and immovable until HE says it’s time. In the same way, When we constantly return to the secret place of intimacy with Him in prayer, in reading the Word, and in fellowship with Him, then we will be firmly placed and immovable under His shadow.

The Almighty: This is El Shaddai, the Almighty God. Genesis 17:1 God appeared to Abraham when he was 99, and He had promised him that He would make Abraham a “Great nation” when he was 75 (12:1). God appeared to Abraham and declared that He was mighty to keep His promise to Abraham. God is strong enough to keep His promise to you!He is strong enough to protect youHe is strong enough to bless youHe is strong enough to meet your needsHe is strong enough to give you wisdomHe is strong enough to prosper youHe is strong enough to save your familyHe is strong enough to save your schoolHe is EL SHADDAI, the Almighty God!!!!If you make a place of intimacy with the most high god your priority, the secret place of his presence and his love and fellowship, then your permanent dwelling will be the protection and covering of the god who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you ask or think! Ie, if you want to stay warm, you have to stay inside!
