I'm simply blown away by the ratio of who was and wasn't impacted by the Equifax security breach.  I think it fell off all our radars after it happened in 2017. It's only because of this settlement link that's going around that it's back on our radar. Hey, we all like that free $125 check.  It's not free. They're paying you off because it's a big deal.  They released private information about you that can mess up your financial life.  I was on the list.  While I love that I'm getting a check, I'm angry that this happened.  FORTUNATELY, even with my info, the bad guys can't do anything because I put a freeze on all three credit reports years ago.  What's a credit freeze?  How do they work? And is there any reason you SHOULDN'T take the $125 payout?  I get into that and more on this edition of The Other 59 Minutes.
