Do you use 2D radiographs when placing dental implants? Hopefully you do! But do you JUST use 2D radiographs when placing dental implants? If so, you're operating with one hand tied behind your back! 2D radiographs are a great tool, but they leave out an entire dimension–and all the detail and information that comes with it. We need to be using 3D scans of our patients during both the planning phase and beyond.
Think about it. What would more accurately print a 3D model of an X-wing, a 2D drawing or a CAD mockup? Obviously, the mockup! So why do we think our results will be any different when it comes to implants? It just doesn't make sense. Check out the rest of the video as I make my case for why using ONLY 2D radiographs just doesn't cut it for modern implant work.
