Ifeoluwa’s Summary of Isa 1-4

Listen Later

Isaiah 1
The Lord spoke and revealed Himself to Isaiah. God said that He had chosen the people of Israel, but they did not see Him or accept Him as their master. God felt that the children of Israel had become wicked and they were rebelling against Him. He said they had become corrupt in body and soul.
The Lord said there would be a day of redemption for the city of Jerusalem, but it would only come about if those in the city sought true forgiveness and tried to change their life for the better. This was the only path to true righteousness and to make the city and its people a great nation once again.
Isaiah 2
God who has had his fill of man’s pride; God who is determined to re-establish visibly the splendor of His majesty and His rightful exalted position as the Preeminent one. He will not tolerate man’s pride forever. There comes a point where the day of man is doomed and God will have His day. The coming day of the Lord will demonstrate fully His terror and the splendor of His majesty in a fearsome sense to those who have an outward show of religion but have wrongly exalted themselves over God.
God’s people had been called to a life of holiness; a life of separation; they were to be a peculiar people with a testimony that would bring light to the Gentile nations; yet they were living like the pagans around them. They didn’t impact their culture for God. They were corrupted by the worldly value system around them. There are many parallels between the situation of corrupt Jerusalem here and the current situation of corrupt Christendom in our day. How is it that the church looks so much like the world? How is it that the church has become so man-centered rather than God-centered?
Isaiah 3
The prophet, in this chapter, goes on to foretel the desolations that were coming upon Judah and Jerusalem for their sins, both that by the Babylonians and that which completed their ruin by the Romans, with some of the grounds of God's controversy with them. God threatens,
I :To deprive them of all the supports both of their life and of their government (v. 1-3).
2: To leave them to fall into confusion and disorder
3:To strip the daughters of Zion of their ornaments. To lay all waste by the sword of war (v. 25, 26).
The sins that provoked God to deal thus with them were,
A: Their defiance of God (v. 8).
B: Their impudence (v. 9).
C: The abuse of power to oppression and tyranny (v. 12-15).
D:The pride of the daughters of Zion (v. 16).
Isaiah 4
The Lord promised the redemption of the Israelites . He will wash away the filth of the women of Zion .
Lessons :
God demands repentance from us . He is ready to forgive us our sins if only we will repent and commit to Him.
