This week's episode features a near and dear friend of mine, Marquel “Francs” Jeffries. I met Marquel while we were both students at Oswego State University, where I was inspired by his musical ability and we eventually started a brotherhood that has turned into a 6 year friendship. Born and Raised in Buffalo, New York, Marquel adapted quickly to his city's music scene and began crafting his own raps around the age of 9 after being inspired by his uncle to become an artist. Fast forward over a decade later, his discography includes 4 independent albums, a sizable mixtape catalog, featuring on the Netflix series “Rhythm and Flow, “ and winning the BSF Centerstage showcase all while earning his bachelor's degree and working as a Coordinator for our alma mater's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office. Francs (whose name is an acronym for “Frequently Rapping About Nonsense Concerning Society) sits down with me to describe his latest and most personable album to date with “Beautiful Daze” and the process of creating the album.
