IGN's Watchlist

This is episode 011 of IGN Africa's 2nd entertainment podcast, where we keep it geek all hour long. Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch next.

In what proved to be the most contentious vote ever, the public chose 2008's Twilight for our team of intrepid Watchers this week. Naturally, no one was impressed. Except Shameez, who was practically vibrating with villainous glee at the prospect of smearing another objectively bad movie on the eyeballs of Kervyn, Shadley & Zaid. So, yes we watched Twilight. For you pleasure you sadists. No, we didn't like it. But we did it anyway.

This is episode 010 of IGN Africa's 2nd entertainment podcast, where we keep it geek all hour long. Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch next.

Shameez takes a break this evening leaving the boys to do discuss boy movies! The team gets distracted talking about The Rock's new action movie, Red Notice, before remembering that they actually need to be talking about Idris Elba & Jonathan Majors new western epic, The Harder They Fall. Spoiler Alert, but we loved it!

This week, the team is missing the Nerd from Nowhere Shadley Desai. We barely managed without his languid wit, but only just. This week's movie was Cargo, a low-budget zombie movie on Netflix, starring Martin Freeman. Was it good? Was it bad? Listen and find out.

This is episode 007 - NOT EPISODE 006, AS ZAID SAYS - of IGN Africa's 2nd entertainment podcast, where we keep it geek all hour long. Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch next.

This week the gang gets all caught up in discussing Squid Game, but eventually remember they're supposed to be talking about Jake Gyllenhaal's new thriller, The Guilty. They also talk anime for a stretch, before Zaid shuts everything down, cos he needs to see episode 6 of Squid Game. And that's what's up on The Watchlist.

This week we find out if He is, indeed, All That. Spoiler alert, but he isn't. Even so, most of us found some enjoyment from the movie, but its not without its problems. We also spoil the living daylights out of the new James Bond movie, No Time To Die. I mean, we're not kidding, we super spoil this movie. So you have been warned.

This is episode 005 of IGN Africa's 2nd entertainment podcast, where we keep it geek all hour long. Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch next.

Zaid somehow manages to mangle his OWN name - how even? - but Shameez comes away unscathed, with every syllable intact. With Kervyn supporting the capitalists once more, the fantastic Witney Seibold came in as a substitute. Witney was the original IGN reviewer of this week's movie, Midsommar, and made the brave decision to slum it with us losers. We also spoke a bit about Ted Lasso and their recent Emmy wins and veered off into some other tangents as well.

Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch next.

Zaid finally gets it right and says Shameez's full name with not a tongue twist anywhere to be found. Celebrations ensue! With the Kervynator out of commission, the remaining Watchers stalk the movie of the week 2009s Ninja Assassin & spend the rest of the episode ruminating the question: What is the Matrix? They also find some time to chat about Legolas with Short Hair, better known as the Avenger Hawkeye, wondering to themselves if his new Disney+ series will be worth the watch.

This is episode 003 of IGN Africa's 2nd entertainment podcast, where we keep it geek all hour long. Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch next.

So Zaid is three for three in his inability to say Shameez's name. We could delve into why that is, but instead why not rather listen to the Watchers discuss the movie of the week The Witcher: Nighmare of the Wolf - the prequel/spin-off of the Henry Cavill starring Netflix series, The Witcher. Zaid and Kervyn also chat up the latest MCU movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

This is episode 002 of IGN Africa's 2nd entertainment podcast, where we keep it geek all hour long. Watchlist is a podcast where our team of Zaid Kriel, Shameez Patel Papathanasiou, Kervyn Cloete, and Shadley Desai each nominate a movie that's been on their personal watchlist forever and get the public to vote on which one they will all watch. In this sophomore effort, Zaid somehow mangles Shameez's name again; probably because he was traumatized since he had to watch The Covenant - a movie Shameez forced on the rest of the panel. Come listen, once again, in wonder at our pain. No smug cackles from Shameez this time though, she was conveniently unable to attend this week's recording.

The team also gets all nostalgic over the Rocketeer & wonders why the Expendables isn't a much bigger deal.
