Simple, Straightforward, Concise Advice for Making Presentations
This is a terrific book with simple, straightforward, and concise advice for anyone looking to become better at persuading others. The author provides a blueprint for structuring any kind of presentation -- whether a formal keynote, a sales pitch, or even a casual conversation -- that forces you to focus on the essence of what you're trying to communicate.
Called "ORSON" for "overview, research, solution, opportunity, and nextsteps," the system provides an intuitive way to streamline your communications and distill them to their essence. The author explains the system through clear nuggets of advice, interesting anecdotes, and most entertainingly by pointing out the drivel contained in most "expert" guides to public speaking.
I don't want to try to preview the rest of the advice, because the book is concise enough to defy easy summary. You can read the whole thing in an hour or so, but it's an hour very well-spent.
As someone who both makes sales presentations and gives large training talks to audiences, I found the book to be interesting and insightful, and look forward to reviewing many of my standard talks using the system.
I'd already made great strides in delivering my section of the show
The author of this book and I have known each other for several years. Twice I've hired him as the head writer for a major company presentation. Through his coaching, I'd already made great strides in delivering my section of the show. I knew Danish was an expert on public speaking, so when I picked up his book, my expectation was that it would be good. I just had no idea that it would be so brilliant! Peter's advice knocked the breath out of me. It's truly that good. I'm buying copies of the book to give to friends who do public speaking, which is the highest praise I can give a book.

I found this book to be very helpful for various situations where you need to project yourself as confident and knowledgeable. Whether you are preparing for a presentation, marketing your business, or even preparing for an interview, this handbook will give you the tools to make your delivery a success! Coming from the corporate world, where much needed workshops on public speaking were scarce, this book is a must have to set yourself apart from the crowd.
Really practical
As a business-school professor, I speak for a living and sit through far too many poor presentations. This book is really useful for me as a refresher, and is something I will share with my MBA students in the Fall.
