Our poet reads a piece from her book "I Didn't Know How To Say This. So, I Wrote It Down"

I'll give you the sun, the trees, and the sky.

I'll give you the people sitting by the bushes

and the music in their ears and the food

between their teeth.

I'll give you heaven...and hell

because I know you think they're beautiful.

And I'll give you dragons.

And some may think they're a myth and full of fiction

but I know you can see them and feel them--

clap your hands if you believe, my God, how you cheer.

I'll give you the waves...

But not the sea.

Because without waves the sea's just too calm

and grey but the waves give it depth.

They give it colour because you are colour.

You are light and dark.

You are black and white.

You are neon and pastel.

You are the pigments in the paint in which you 

paint pictures the world will never see.

I'll give you it all.

The grass,

the trees.

And I'll give you the sun

because you are light.
