Illness anxiety disorder was formerly called as Hypochondriasis. It is an irrational and obsessive worry about having serious illness. Patient usually misinterpret minor or normal body sensation as serious illness despite reassurance by medical expert. Illness anxiety disorder has increased in recent due to COVID pandemic and many of my patient comes with illness anxiety disorder showing symptoms like constantly researching symptoms of illnesses and thinking a cough must be sign of lung failure due to COVID -19. etc.
