We are invited into the stage of illumination in Holy Week. Drawing on St Gregory’s image of the soul as a “new universe,” we see how Christ—as divine light (lumen)—gradually dispels our passions. Through contemplative prayer (theoria), our hearts receive God’s love and light, enabling us to perceive the living gospel here and now.
