Have you ever felt like you don’t belong? Like your friends or colleagues are going to discover you’re a fraud, and you don’t actually deserve your job and accomplishments? Well, you’re in good company. 70% of people will experience imposter syndrome at some point in their lives. Moments of doubt are part of everyday life but for those people who let those doubts control their actions, they can suffer in a self-perpetuating cycle that can have devastating impacts on their quality of life and mental health. Dr Marc Reid is conducting a research study into the syndrome and is authoring a memoir on his own experiences, and this week joins us to explore the factors that can cause and help to overcome this very personal mental health challenge.
