This exploration of Exodus 33 challenges us to examine whether we've reduced God's presence to a Sunday morning experience or embraced it as a complete lifestyle. Through Moses' intimate relationship with God, we discover a profound truth: Moses wasn't satisfied with just the promised land—he needed the God who promised it. He declares boldly that if God's presence doesn't go with them, they're not going anywhere. This reveals something countercultural about our faith journey. We often approach God through the filter of what He can do for us—the blessings, breakthroughs, and miracles. But Moses desired something deeper: he wanted to know God's ways, to understand His sovereignty, to walk in such intimacy that God would distinguish His people from everyone else on earth.
The challenge before us is convicting: have we become addicted to hearing preaching but allergic to God's presence? Do we want God to bless the things we refuse to surrender to Him?
