Church membership—Why bother? Fair question.
Let me give you two simple and clear reasons:
First, it makes it clear to everyone around me that I am identified with the mission and vision of the Church. That means I am taking a clear and bold stand as a
follower of Jesus Christ.
Second, it means I’m putting my action behind my words. When we join the church, we say we will “support it by our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.” We commit ourselves to more than being
casual spectators. We will invest our lives for Christ and his Church.
When you make that commitment, you are investing in God’s work in the world. It is eternal, not temporary. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Make that commitment today. Identify with Christ and his Church. Then invest your life for him through the Church.
In Christ, Bob
