"I'm not good enough...they'll never pick me...once they know the things I've done they won't want anything to do with me...what if they find out my big secrets? Besides, with how messed up I am, why would they even want me there?"

As we encourage and invite people to church - these are some of the common questions that come up. But what they show is a real lack of understanding about what the church really is...and who it is for.

Think of the church less like a country club and more like a hospital. That's the point Jesus was making when he says, "It's not those who think they are healthy that need a doctor...but those who are sick."

Staying away from church because you've got some baggage and your life is messy is like staying away from the doctor's office because you're sick. It doesn't make any sense at all. Grace is for the person with a messy life...church is for you!
