“Welcome back to Culture Courtside. I’m your host LP… and today, I gotta take accountability.

Because a few months ago, with confidence — maybe too much confidence — I said the Philadelphia 76ers were going to the Finals.

Not the Conference Finals.
Not a deep playoff run.
I said Finals.

And instead? The New York Knicks came in and swept them 4-0. A clean sweep. Brooms out. No debate.

The Knicks didn’t just beat Philly — they exposed them. Every game felt like New York was tougher, more disciplined, and honestly more connected as a team. The energy at Madison Square Garden was electric, and the Knicks fed off it from tip-off to final buzzer.

Meanwhile, the Sixers looked lost when the pressure hit. Joel Embiid battled, but the health concerns and inconsistency showed up again at the worst possible time. Tyrese Maxey had moments, but New York’s defense never let Philly get comfortable for a full game, let alone a full series.

And give credit where it’s due — Jalen Brunson played like a superstar. Calm, clutch, surgical. Every time the Sixers made a push, Brunson answered. The Knicks’ role players stepped up, the bench brought energy, and Tom Thibodeau had that squad locked in defensively.

But this episode isn’t just about praising the Knicks. This is about accountability.

I underestimated New York’s toughness. I overestimated Philly’s ceiling. I bought into the talent on paper instead of looking at the habits, chemistry, and resilience that actually win playoff basketball.

That’s on me.

So Knicks fans, y’all earned this victory lap. And Sixers fans… I know it’s rough right now. Because expectations were sky-high, and getting swept makes every offseason question even louder.
