Jesus was tempted as a real, physical human...just like us. When he faced some of his greatest temptations (in the wilderness after his baptism) the same way we do. He relied on the voice of God, his and our Father, the power of God's Spirit and the truth of God's word to remember who was and what he was supposed to be doing.
Amidst a slurry of voices calling for his attention, telling who he should be, what others wanted from him, what "success" is supposed to look like...Jesus was able to focus on who God told him he was, despite what everyone else was saying..."You are my Son, I'm so happy who you are"
