Imagining Air Superiority (Figments: The Power of Imagination)

Listen Later

Lessons from Ukraine and Other Wars.  The host for this show is Dan 'Fig' Leaf.

Russia's failures in Ukraine have highlighted the importance of air superiority in military operations. Russian invaders have been unable to achieve the goal of controlling the air domain and paid dearly for that on the ground.

Host "Fig" Leaf is an expert on the topic with almost 2,000 hours in the air superiority F-15 and combat experience in the air and on the ground. Fig explains what air superiority means and why it should matter to American citizens.

Since World War II, some measure of air superiority has been a constant in U.S. military - the last time an American soldier was killed by enemy air attack was 1953 during the Korea War.  As they say on investment commercials, past performance does not guarantee future success.

Watch this episode to understand what's at stake if U.S. armed forces cannot achieve air superiority in a future conflict - and how to avoid such a situation.
