Imliakum Aier - Leaving His Secure Job as a Professor for Music, Songwriting Journey, and Freedom from Addiction

Listen Later

Ladies and Gentlemen! HERE WE ARE WITH EPISODE 2 OF THE POD!

I am beyond thrilled to have one of my absolute favourite artists from our land; singer-songwriter, and the frontman of The Electric Cool Kid, IMLIAKUM AIER! From his impressive academic run from masters, pursuing theology, and teaching as a professor—to leaving it all behind just as he was working on his PhD to follow his passion for music.

This pod is full of juice! So much depth and inspiration as we dive into his start in music, writing songs at 13, overcoming his struggles with substance abuse, and his life-changing encounter with God. We discuss how his faith continues to guide his life now. We also explore his creative process, touching on the craft of songwriting, and the stories behind his music.

I first heard Imliakum a couple of years ago when I came across his song Dancing in the Capital. I was instantly hooked and became a fan. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know him on a personal level, and I quickly realized he’s so much more than just a phenomenal artist. From his immense talent, intentionality, and intelligence in his craft to his humor, wit, and charm; Imliakum is someone I deeply admire and am super fond of.

In fact, the very first time we met, I invited him to the pod! We originally planned to record this months ago, but we never really went through with that. However, it was all meant to be as we pushed the entire project to the later part of the year, which is now. GOD'S TIMING!

This episode is full of heart, honesty, and Imliakum’s incredible journey. A conversation that delves into life’s highs and lows. I promise you, it’s one you do not want to miss!
