I'm a first generation American citizen born in the United States but both of my parents are immigrants: my dad from Haiti, and my mom from the Philippines. We chat about what immigrating here was like, how they feel about the concept of the American dream, and how and why such a fervent desire for learning and education is immensely important for my family.
