Notes

ALL of us have been parented

MOST of us will be parents

EVERYONE deals with parented people

There is no such thing as a perfect parent. Only God our Heavenly Father is perfect.

Being a parent naturally leads to blame.

Blame and Shame don’t solve problems or make things better. All they do is keep us stuck.

How do we get unstuck from the shame and blame cycle that naturally happens to all of us?

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows – this is God, whose dwelling is holy. Psalm 68:5

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered:

Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I’ve been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen the me has seen the Father.

John 14:8-9

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32

There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. Luke 15:11-12

And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. Luke 15:20

The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. Luke 15:28

Father’s UNCONDITIONAL love – Father’s UNFAILING love

Parenting – It frames how we see GOD, OURSELVES, and OTHERS.

Our perfect Heavenly Father frees us by supplying…

What we didn’t get and what we can’t give!

Parenting is about purpose and preparing, not perfection.
