Controlling outcomes for our children feels and looks like success, but it actually sets them up for failure in the real world.
Helicopter Parenting
It involves excessive levels of monitoring, involvement and control by parents in their children’s lives.
Helicopter Parenting
Helicopter parents often have good intentions, but this parenting style is associated with negative outcomes. For example, helicopter parenting prevents children from learning important skills that help them achieve independence and autonomy.
We can help “control” our children’s outcomes or we can “create” decision making skills – just not both.
“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Genesis 3:4-6
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Where is God, and why didn’t He jump in and stop them?
At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”
