In the wake of George Floyd’s death, countries around the world are starting to take a more detailed look at their colonial past, in order to understand further the injustices created through imperial expansion. 

However, in Hong Kong, the last major colony to gain independence from Britain, liberal and pro-Democracy protesters can sometimes be seen flying the colonial-era flag as they demonstrate against the central Chinese government.
