  • Been a good software engineer is a very nice thing, but you should also have a social presence.
  • The most important place for a Software Engineer or anyone working in the IT industry is LinkedIn.
  • Recently a  lot of Meta/Twitter/Amazon were fired from their jobs. I checked their LinkedIn post and none have done any activity ever, with less then 500 connections.
  • A lot of them with find jobs, but the number is so huge(Around 100,000), that most of them have to compete.
  • A good LinkedIn profile for these FAANG engineers can take them to places. And a lot of them know this thing, so they have a huge social media following.
  • These influencers have this social media following by giving tips on DS and Algo and the process to get into their company.
  • Plus you write anything about these top companies(which is allowed) and it will take your profile to new heights.
  • Like My day at Google. Most of the companies love it, as it gives them free publicity and more people want to work with them.
  • People in FAANG and other product based companies having more then 20K connections, can easily find a new job.
  • Same is true for anyone else having more then 20K connections. As it opens a lot of doors, because people starts to know you.
