Improving Your Mental Health In The New Year

Listen Later

The New Year comes at a time of year when feelings of anxiety, depression and other mental health struggles are at an all time high. This increase is often due to the colder weather, ebbs and flows of the holiday seasons, lack of daylight hours and triggers of loss and grief.

Sure many are looking at the start of a New Year as a way to improve and recommit to their goals and resolutions, but that is not the case for everyone.

Research show that only 16% of those who come in to the New Year setting big goals and resolutions actually succeed.

Want to know what happens?

Because many are not seeing immediate success the feelings of inadequacy, doubt, lack of self confidence and excuses flow causing mental health to decline. Everything in life starts with in our minds. What we feed it (positive or negative) grows.

I want to challenge you with something. Instead of worrying about setting big goals and resolutions to "fit it" with the culture, start with working on your mental health and mindset FIRST! Our mental health is essential because it drives how we think, how we act and how we grow. Once we start with the inside work than the outside work (the big goals we are usually focused on at the first of the year) will follow!

Tune in today to hear some of my practical and easy Mental Health tips to starting the New Year off right! As always, share this with a friend!
