Publisher's Summary:
Every year more than 40% of Americans set out to improve their lives through New Year Resolutions. But the fact is only 8% of people actually achieve their goals. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to setting and reaching goals forget the complex nature of life. If you have ever felt deflated by your inability to reach your most desired goals, you're not alone. It's time to rethink our approach. After all, life is not a scripted performance. It's an improvisation. Despite what some of the goal-setting gurus want us to believe, we can't control every element of our life to realize a static endpoint. But that doesn't mean you can't live a life you truly love. Drawing from the principles of improvisation, Improvised provides a whole new framework by which to create happiness, success, and the life of our dreams. It is your guidebook for transforming the way your approach every aspect of life. Discover true success in business, your relationships, and within your home.

Improvised
I enjoyed reading this book about creating the life you want through improvisation. As a dancer, the author discusses many points of her book through that lens. She uses many examples from her life as a dance teacher and student of dance to illustrate her points. I found this helpful and interesting. This book doesn't explain how to plan your day or create the perfect to-do list or schedule, but rather speaks to the mindset in which you live your life. I liked the ideas and thoughtful explanations given by the author. Improvised is an easy and uplifting read and I recommend it to anyone who wants to look at life just a bit differently.
Improvised: How to create the life you really want.
I was so impressed with this book. I love self-help books, but lately it has seemed to me like they're all saying the same thing, and nothing really changes. This book is not like the others! The author takes her personal experience with improvisation and applies it to real life. If there's one thing I'm not skilled in, it's improvisation. I needed this book.
My favorite part was about how we view our boundaries. Instead of viewing your obstacles as a barrier to your success, you'll learn ho they can in fact become a vehicle for your success. I've never read anything like this. This book has opened my eyes to the offense I take when things don't work exactly my way. Our brains have so much untapped power - our potential lies in how we use our parameters to grab ahold of that power. Will we waste our time griping about our personal injustices, or will we push past to be overcomers?
This can be applied in almost every situation. In short, there is a place for this book in everyone's Kindle library. Keep it close and open it frequently. You'll never regret it.
This book is for anyone who ever "failed" at a goal
What do you do when you fail? That's a question I've asked myself a lot lately. What if you had it all mapped out and then you mess it up? Robin Konie seems to have an interesting answer to this question: improvise. Goals are great, but intention should be your primary focus. I like that idea. What do you really want out of life? Is it really a "thing" or is it something a little more fluid? "Things" can go away or become obsolete--intentions can adapt and expand over a lifetime.
