This song was written in light of the "revelation of the mystery" given to the Jewish Apostles concerning God's ultimate purposes for Israel and all Gentiles who call upon His name. Ephesians 1:9 calls it, "the Mystery of His will," which is "in view to the administration to the fullness of the times" (1:10). Every individual who is truly "in Christ," and born of Spirit, experiences this divine wisdom and purpose at a personal level forsaking their lives "in themselves" to be truly and fully "in Christ," an experience that awaits the whole nation of Israel.
