The idea that God is merciful and forgives sins is distinct from the concept of the Old Covenant. In simple terms, when someone “forgets” or “remembers no more,” it means they choose to act as if something did not happen. God does not erase our sins from His memory, but for those who believe in Christ, God can “forget” their sins.
