". . . It's a way of love, y'know"
Continuing his series of interviews with any kind of celebrity he can get his hands on, producer extraordinaire Jorg Bobsin presents one of the more eclectic discussions you can find with Steven Seagal. This one touches on a lot of topics and doesnât get into many of them as deeply as you might hope, but thereâs still a lot of information here that you canât easily find in other places.
The immediate drawback of this is its price: unless theyâre to inform you how to quickly grow your own gold, no 18 minutes are worth $10. Nevertheless, as aforementioned, a lot of this information hasnât been reproduced since this oneâs release in early 2009, making it a cool, exclusive little trove for fans. Seagal touches on his earliest experiences learning the martial arts, his fondness of the Colt .45, his aversion to math, his conversion to Buddhism, his fears in life, the infamous âsex symbolâ quote attributed to him, why exactly he doesnât like Jean-Claude Van Damme, and several other topics. Thereâs also a snippet wherein heâs bothered by flies and calls for âJanetâ to bring him âthe clinical air spray.â Seagalâs confessions are fun, illuminating, and certainly sound authentic.
The interview is advertised as âUnabridged,â which may or may not be true since itâs definitely been edited. Bobsin includes a host of goofy, unnecessary sound effects and oftentimes you can hear a jump in the ambiance between when he asks a question and Seagal replies. I donât get the impression that their talk was doctored in a way to misrepresent Seagalâs words, but the file doesnât sound as polished or professional as you might hope for.
People who arenât fans of Steven Seagal should avoid this by default, and established fans just need to decide whether theyâre interested enough to lay down ten bucks for it. For half the price, Iâd recommend it more easily.
