Why hello there!

Today, we bring you the very warm Nakkiah Lui. Nakkiah is a Gamilaroi and Torres Strait Islander woman who writes for both the theatre and television. Nakkiah has co-written and starred in the ABC’s Black Comedy, created and starred in Kiki and Kitty for the ABC, co-hosted the Buzzfeed podcast series Pretty for an Aboriginal, and in 2019, released her debut novel, Black Is The New White. This year, Nakkiah also released her Audible Original Podcast alongside Miranda Tapsell, Debutant: Race, Resistance and Girl Power.

In this chat, we touched on everything: From growing up around community to how she found herself studying a law degree, and the impact her grandma Joan had on her life and career.

For more from Nakkiah, follow her on Instagram @nakkiah. And we highly recommend you check out her and Miranda’s Audible Original Podcast, Debutant: Race, Resistance and Girl Power.
