It’s been seven months since Panyaza Lesufi was sworn in as the 7th Premier of Gauteng. Since his first State of the Province Address back in February, he has been launching new programmes to address the key priorities for the province: safety (crime prevention wardens); expanded public works programmes jobs (green army); solar installation programme (jobs) & drug rehabilitation programme (community safety).

However, it has not come without reprioritization of funds and it has left grant beneficiaries in the cold. Some political parties have accused the new premier of hiring volunteers to canvass for the governing party.
