We need gatekeeping but not at the fan level. Everyone should be able to come in and enjoy a fandom while they learn about it. What we need are gatekeepers or “Watchmen” keeping an eye on the writers and producers that come to long lived IPs. How many decades old franchises are we going to see run into the ground?
