On March 25,1990 the illegal Happy Land Social Club was burned to the ground, killing 87 people. One of the victims was 18 year old Juan Carlos Colon. Over 30 years later, Juan’s niece Desirae is looking for information on who he was. She grew up knowing nothing about the man who was loved by many, and taken so soon. With this piece she hopes to change that.
This piece was produced by Desirae Smith. A special thanks to those that participated in this documentary: Ligia Smith, Miriam Colon, Ana, and all of the family members that supported me in this process.
