This week on In My Day, we commemorated the 25th anniversary of 9/11 as callers joined Roman Travers to chat about their memories and connection to the event. 

Caller of the night Paul discussed memories of 9/11, including his parents' story of flying through New York during the event, and life living on the small island nation of Nauru.

Ivan Mauger was famous for his speedway escapades here, in Australia and throughout Europe.

This week marked the date he won his 6th world title.

Mauger had world titles and championship accolades galore, and many Brits like caller Miles Davis, grew up thinking he was probably a British speedway legend. 

Davis has interviewed some of the greatest speedway stars, and spoke with Roman Travers about his love of the sport.

A highlight in Harmony's family photobooks is a picture of his father standing beside Ronald Reagan, back when the 40th US President was still Governnor of California.

Harmony's father was the President of the National Electrical Contractors Association, and Reagan was his guest of honour for the group's national convention.

It's one of many pictures Harmony uses to prove his patriotism to people who may question his political allegiances.

Harmony told his story to Roman Travers on In My Day.

When Sam was on her big OE in the UK, she landed a great gig as the nanny to a member of the extended royal family.

In her care, were 2 little girls, who always warned her about what she needed to do if they were to bump into Queen Elizabeth.

Then, one day, while out on the palace grounds, they saw the royal corgis galloping towards them, so she knew who they were about to meet!

Sam told her story to Roman Travers on In My Day.

It was this very day, July 11th, back in 1983 that Lorraine Downes won the Miss Universe competition. The vibrant 19-year-old kiwi, with the engaging smile, stood on a stage in Missouri in front of 16,000 people, and a global TV audience of 700 million to win and change the trajectory of her life forever. There were unbelievably happy times ahead - and incredible tragedy too.

On In My Day, Ray called in to talk about The Herald in the 1950's with returned soldiers losing their RSA badges (no not medals) in pubs as they came to terms with the end of WW2, finding solace in the bottom of a beer glass, and then advertising their loss in The Herald classifieds 'lost and found'.

After three published ads and no success, returned soldiers were issued with a new RSA badge.
