In Play with Craig Mattick

Rapid City native Wil Collins joins Craig Mattick on this edition of In Play. Collins is a three‑time South Dakota individual golf champion who went on to earn All‑American honors in college and compete professionally with 12 career tour wins.

On this edition of In Play with Craig Mattick is joined by Lincoln High School Sports Hall of Famer and former Gatorade Player of the Year Erin Radke Woodring. Before playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes, she dominated South Dakota volleyball, leading Lincoln to back-to-back state championships with nearly 1,100 career kills.

Craig Mattick’s guest on In Play is Rapid City Central Hall of Famer Jasmyne King, one of the most decorated track athletes in South Dakota history. After bursting onto the scene as a top-five sprinter in the eighth grade, the former Gatorade Athlete of the Year went on to capture 12 state titles across five different events.

From Hall of Fame accolades to a lifetime on the court, Daryl Paluch shares his journey from hitting tennis balls against the family garage to becoming a South Dakota legend. Now the owner of Rapid City’s premier tennis facility, the former state champion and collegiate standout joins Craig Mattick on this edition of In Play.

On this episode of In Play with Craig Mattick, we spotlight Steve Heidenreich, a 1971 Watertown High School graduate who became the greatest miler South Dakota has ever produced, breaking the 4-minute barrier eight times and earning hall of fame honors at Watertown, Indiana University, and the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.

Craig Mattick's guest is one of South Dakota’s top tennis players, with five state high school singles titles, three doubles titles, over 60 tournament wins, and All–Big Ten honors as the University of Minnesota’s No. 1 singles player. A Sioux Falls native from a tennis family, she’s also won five adult singles titles, been inducted into the South Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame, and is the former O’Gorman Knight, Nancy Rost.

Craig Mattick welcomes one of South Dakota’s greatest multi‑sport athletes, Garney Henley—ranked by Sports Illustrated as the state’s third‑best sports figure of the 20th century and a Hall of Famer in both college and Canadian football. A standout in football, basketball, track, and baseball, Henley also earned a place in the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame and was hailed as the best Class B tournament player of all time.

Craig Mattick’s guest on In Play is a true legend of South Dakota high school girls’ basketball. Undefeated during her high school career at Sioux Falls Washington, she went on to play at South Dakota State University, later returned to coach at her alma mater, and is now a member of the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame — JoElle Byre Benson.

Craig Mattick’s guest on In Play is a South Dakota state wrestling champion who went on to wrestle at SDSU before launching a successful career as a professional MMA fighter. After nearly a decade in MMA, he’s now back home in South Dakota. He’s the boys’ wrestling coach at Lakota Tech, David “Bulldog” Michaud.

Craig Mattick’s guest on In Play is a true South Dakota wrestling legend. He qualified for the state tournament six times, captured three individual titles, and helped his team bring home two team championships.
