August 23, 2021 Safe and Social : A Discussion About Online Safety
In this episode, hosts Christine and Emily discuss online safety.
As adults, we don’t often discuss how to stay safe while interacting with others online, but we know that online predators exist too. Unfortunately, there are people whose sole goal is to stalk unknowing victims online, then inflict violence in person. Hackers also utilize public information to target and attack strangers. Nowadays, people can have access to our personal information with a super simple Google search—- which is actually quite scary. Some people even post their every move and travel plan on their social media accounts in real time, without thinking about who can access that info or even what they can do with that information. Also, many widely used apps track our online behavior and interactions and either recommend our pages to strangers, or show us certain ads, images, etc. In other words, our information is constantly shared and constantly consumed. It’s up to us to protect ourselves and we wanted to bring more awareness to these issues.

As two women that were the only female children in our respective homes, over the years, we’ve both relied heavily on our girlfriends and the sisterly bonds they have brought to our lives. Friendships are crucial to growth, happiness, understanding of self, personality, and so much more.

March 15, 2021 From the Brilliance of Daniel Kaluuya to the first “Black” Bachelor : Black History Month 2021
Okay, we know. Technically, it’s no longer Black History Month. But the thing is, we celebrate our Blackness 24/7, 365 days a year.

Today’s episode focuses on all things Black. In the beginning, we discuss Daniel Kaluuya’s segment on the the Higher Learning show on The Ringer YouTube channel. The segment is linked down below. We take time to reflect on some of his statements, primarily his statement that it doesn’t make sense to ask Black people, who themselves love Black people, why non-Black people don’t like Black people. Why are Black people constantly having to explain racism, when it’s not an institution that we created? What are your thoughts about this? We’d love for you to share your thoughts via Instagram (@inprogress_pod).

We also dive into a few other issues tied to racism and Anti-blackness, one of them being the current season of the Bachelor, which features a biracial bachelor. The bachelor, Matt James, is both Black and White and is regarded as the first Black bachelor in the show’s history. During the course of the show, allegations of racism came out against a contestant, and for some unknown reason, the host came to her defense and seriously downplayed her actions. Then, the host resigned. We discuss our thoughts about the whole situation. Suffice to say, it has played out exactly as we expected. An article is linked below with more details.
