We saw the movie together, we wept together, we grew together. It's amazing how Wicked brings people together - across the ages and throughout the years. We are so lucky that we got to experience this season together!

Isabel and Meredith join me to chat all things Wicked in preparation for Wicked: For Good coming out officially this Friday!!! These aren't things we wish we knew- we are actually really glad and intentional in not knowing ANYTHING about the movie or musical, which is the opposite of this season of the pod, and is just as fun to discuss with a group like this!

The suspense is at incredible levels. Is and I have NO idea what is coming and Mere is our resident expert, but joins as our interviewer for this episode to guide us through and not give any secrets away. We'll hear more about her perspective next time so she can share things that would have spoiled it for us!

Welcome to Season 2 of In the Audience. A podcast made by a friend, for a friend. A podcast fueled, to this day, by late night tea and ambition. A podcast launched in 2020, that also found its end in 2020. (May all the podcasts that started and ended in those years rest in digital peace. Amen.)

I am excited to bring us back for a season of "What I Wish I Knew When" - listen along for first hand accounts of all the things I wish I could tell my younger self. Is it wisdom? Hardly. Is it practical? Maybe. Am I giving my younger self answers to life's most difficult questions? Potentially, but not in the way that you might think.

Some episodes will be solo and some will be with a guest. These episodes will be real, heartfelt, sometimes embarrassing, and fully human. I. Can't. Wait.

I hope you smile or laugh while you listen to this season, because there's a good chance I cried learning at least some of these lessons the hard way. No, no, it's been a joy, truly! (sarcasm)

Jokes aside, I have held onto hope for this podcast for years - five years is a long time. Thanks for being here to witness hope in action.

In this episode, I get to introduce you to my friend Malon! She is resilient and has a ton of grit - which you'll hear in this episode. I was incredibly grateful that Malon was so open with me about her story - from drugs and alcohol to praying the Lord would break her, to her difficult relationship with her mom that has been redeemed, to going viral on TikTok and sharing what she knows and loves - God. 

I truly hope you hear how Malon has honored her mom in their relationship, but also acknowledged the parts that were hurtful and ugly. If you resonate with this part of the episode - I would love to know. I also loved hearing Malon's rhythm of being in the Word and talking to God, and listening for Him, too! We definitely talked about things that are near and dear to my heart, and I hope that you'll share this episode with someone who might just relate to a bit of Malon's story.

For this first episode, I got to interview an incredible woman I've known for 8 years and have been a huge fan of since: Cindy Carey. Cindy is a counselor at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. She has been doing this work for 17 years and has grown along the way, both personally and professionally. In this episode we talk about her personal journey to counseling, faith, and we briefly chat about resiliency, COVID, and college students. Stay tuned for the end where she shares about who she Is in the audience for. It's a sweet story that I'll remember for a long time.
