resurrection.  God’s promises were fulfilled in the Ascension of Christ to reign with the Father and pouring out of the Holy Spirit for all to come to faith, as John says, “But to all who have received him—those who believe in his name—he has given the right to become God’s children— children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.” And so, now, the second part of Peter’s Pentecost sermon makes total sense on this Trinity Sunday.  We celebrate our salvation completed and given freely by the true God, whom we know and confess as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
