Episode 47 of "In The Oil Patch"
This week on "In The Oil Patch": host Kym Bolado and her cohost Alvin Bailey have Commissioner Ryan Sitton of the Texas Railroad Commission on the show today! Sitton has a background in engineering and in fact, he is the first engineer in 50 years to serve as a Commissioner for the Texas Railroad Commission. Make no mistake about the fact that Sitton is not a newcomer to the oil & gas industry.
A 20 year career as an engineer in the energy industry eventually motivated Sitton to start his own company, Pinnacle. His company's mission was to implement reliability systems across all types of industries, including oil & gas, mining, refining and petrochemical industries. Pinnacle helped companies ensure the safety of the operation of anything relating to pumps, piping systems and pressure vessels, as well as teaching companies how to manage these types of units. Sitton ended up stepping down as the CEO of Pinnacle in early 2015 so he could take office, but it's important to note that this company he started now employs nearly 700 people! Commissioner Sitton has made the transition between CEO and Texas Railroad Commissioner with poise and loyalty to his fellow Texans.
Quick excerpt from today's show:
"I jumped over to public service mainly because as our business was doing well and I was seeing the impact that elected officials could have on such a vital industry to the future, not just to the state of Texas but to the entire United States, I realized we had a shortage of people in elected office who genuinely had a working knowledge of the industry."
