In Luke 11:1–13, Jesus teaches His disciples how to pray, giving them the Lord’s Prayer as a model that honors God’s name, seeks His kingdom, and depends on Him for daily needs, forgiveness, and protection. He then tells the parable of a friend who persistently asks for bread at midnight to show that bold, persistent prayer is welcomed by God. Jesus concludes by assuring His disciples that the Father gladly gives good gifts—especially the Holy Spirit—to those who ask Him.
