John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ 1st coming. He called the nation of Israel to repentance even though they were not idol worshippers! However, there was injustice, pride and profit making in Jerusalem. John called them to repentance in order to prepare the way for Christ’s coming.
Likewise, in our day and age, God is calling us to repent of those things in our lives that are not pleasing to Him as we prepare the way of the Messiah again.
