In Philippians 2:9-18, Paul is wanting to get out in front of a known conflict/disagreement before it trickles into the church. He reminds the Philippians that they have been called to represent the name of Jesus and they need to live in the harmony of the Lord. As Paul says, we must work out our salvation in fear and trembling. This doesn’t mean we work for our salvation but working as a result of it. This process begins with us being shaped and molded into the image of Jesus. It’s in our nature to look at life as a lot of ups and downs. However, Paul wants the Philippians to look at life as a bunch of ins and outs.
